Beinne Eighe is a complex mountain massif in Torridon. The narrow U-shaped ridge includes 2 munro tops.
The summer days in the north of Scotland are long and I started this 6hr hike at 1800. The entire massif was empty apart from 3 climbers who were tackling Eighe's triple buttress. The hike was blessed with great light and incredible views. The magical atmosphere was shattered when I returned alone to my car to find that my car keys must have fallen out of my rucksack as I ran down the scree-slopes. My tent and food were in the car, I was several miles from the nearest house and I was left in my shorts and without a mobile phone signal.
